Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.   And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.   On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Principles of Jesus Christ

 Christians are not alone.

Christians develop a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Christians are guided by the Holy Spirit through prayer and meditation. Jesus promised to send a comforter; all we need do as Christians is to accept the comfort offered by Him and to extend God's Love to every event encounter and circumstance of our Lives.

When we develop this loving approach to life, we are soon surrounded by the Love of God and His Protection. All things are lessons in His Love. We only need the faith and trust in His Promises to learn them and spread them.

A Christian Follows Jesus of Nazareth. A Christian looks to Jesus Christ as the example to follow. Christianity is a Loving Religion by command of Jesus. He was clear, consistent and commanding in His Message; even unto death on the cross. Love and Forgiveness were the hallmarks of His Ministry.. Nothing else.

The Crucifixion did not establish the Atonement, the Resurrection did. The Resurrection established the promise of eternal life; the demonstration that this world holds nothing I want beyond the remembrance and acceptance of The Father and His Son. This world is but a doorway to Heaven where our Loving Father waits for us to come Home.

The Greatest Commandments of God are found in the Gospels, in Matthew 22:35:

"Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, "Master, which is the great commandment in the law?37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

This has been interpreted by many to mean that we should love those in the fellowship only and be wary of those 'outside'. To that, Jesus said in Matthew 5:44: "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despiteful use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Jesus is clear, consistent and commanding, leaving little doubt as to His Meaning nor our responsibility toward those whom we see as "outside our brotherhood." This is the starting point of Christianity; the basis or the Rock upon which it is built. Any other approach is not the Christianity of Jesus, therefore, is NOT Christianity, but a compromise, a minimization of the Truth and has NO MEANING in terms of Jesus of Nazareth. Therefore it has no meaning for a Christian.

The REAL questions a follower of Jesus needs to ask in response to any situation or relationship are, "What does this mean to me in my Walk with God and to you in yours?" and "How can I use this to live my life in the Love and Service of God, my neighbor and myself as commanded by Christ?"

We are given the answers by Jesus Himself. These are more than empty words to be used when the situation seems to fit. These are the COMMANDMENTS OF GOD as given us by His Son. They are the commandments around which ANY Christian religion MUST be built in order to truly follow Jesus. All other teachings, rituals and doctrine are secondary and must be built on this foundation of Love or they simply are not of Christ. It cannot be any other way or the bible is wrong and Jesus did not mean what He said.

Choose to believe the bible is right and Jesus commanded you to live your lives in the Love of God, your neighbors and yourselves. Choose to accept that your lives must be spent teaching/learning this message with all men women and children we encounter, in any way possible, at all times, in all circumstances. Choose to commit all your worldly assets and efforts to the realization and extension of one goal--The Love of God.

Choose to be responsible before God for your choices and your motives and your personal relationship with Him. To do otherwise after being introduced to Jesus is a distortion of God's Word and will not bring you peace or comfort, but indecision, insecurity and pain.

TO ALL CHRISTIANS: This issue of Jesus' Greatest Commandments must be addressed or all else is meaningless rhetoric clouding the Truth as relayed through Jesus of Nazareth and reported in the bible. It matters not to which 'sect' or ' denomination' you belong. What matters is whether your belief system reflects and extends the commandments of God or whether it doesn't. What matters is whether your motives are of God or the world. What matters is your personal responsibility to work out your salvation and build the relationship with the Father that He would have you build.

Nothing will change the fact that the message of Christ, by His own words, is a message of Love, not fear; of acceptance, not judgement; of peace, not war. It is a message for ALL men. It is a message we are responsible before God to deliver.

This is the daily walk of the Christian.
